Viktor Blom ProfileViktor "Isildur1" Blom finished with a profit of $51,196 to defeat Daniel "w00ki3z." Cates in the third "Superstar Showdown" on Pokerstars earlier today.

Today's victory for "Isildur1" means that he is now 2-1 in "Superstar Showdown" matches. Viktor "Isildur1" Blom now has victories against Cates (+51k) and Tony G (+44k) and a loss at the hands of Isaac "philivey2694" Haxton (-40k).

The "Showdown" between Blom and Cates (also known as "jungleman12" on Full Tilt Poker) involved 2,500 hands of $50/$100 No Limit Hold'em spread over a total of four tables.

Viktor Blom still managed to post a profit of over $51k despite losing this hand:

"Isildur1" with a stack of $27,200. "w00ki3z." with a stack of $44,550. "Isildur1" has the button.

After some pre-flop raising, the flop comes:

5h-3s-4s

A raising war develops, and there is nearly $24k in the pot when the turn brings the 7d.

Cates checks, "Isildur1" pushes all-in (about $15,300) and Cates makes the call. The two players turn over:

"Isildur1" - 4c-5c
"w00ki3z." - 7h-8s

"Isildur1" is well ahead with his two pair, but the river brings the 8d, giving Cates a better two pair and the $54,400 pot.

A short time before that hand took place, "Isildur1" managed to take down a pot of nearly $50k after rivering a straight.

With the board reading 4c-8s-Tc-As-Kd and $14k in the pot, "w00ki3z." leads out with a bet of $11,500, "Isildur1" raises to $22,600, putting himself all-in, and "w00ki3z." calls. The two players turn over:

"Isildur1" - Qd-Jc
"w00ki3z." - Ts-Ks

"Isildur1" rivered the Broadway straight and took down the $49,500 pot.

Based on the chat that took place shortly after the match between Cates and Blom ended, it appears as though Daniel Negreanu might be up next in the "Superstar Showdown".
