2012 World Series of Poker to Start on SundayPublished on May 26th, 2012 12:32 am EST
Another year has flown by.
The 2012 World Series of Poker will kick off this weekend with the $500 Casino Employees No Limit Hold'em event on Sunday.
Things will really get going at 12 pm on Monday afternoon with the first $1,500 No Limit Hold'em event. This tournament will be the first of this year's events that will be open to the general public.
Between May 27th and July 6th, a total of 60 bracelets will be handed out. This will set the table for Event #61, which is the World Series of Poker main event. The main event will officially kick off on Saturday, July 7th.
On Sunday, July 1st, "The Big One for One Drop" will get underway. This event features a buy-in of $1,000,000 - according to the World Series of Poker, 30 players have already confirmed their participation in the event. Some of those names include Guy Laliberte, Daniel Negreanu, Johnny Chan and Tom Dwan.
Another high profile event, the Poker Players Championship, will get underway on Sunday, June 24th, and run for a full five days. This event, which features a buy-in of $50,000, requires an incredibly well-rounded poker game in order to win, thanks to the number of games that comprise the event.
Players are currently doing their last minute preparations ahead of the first open tournament on Monday. Daniel Negreanu and Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier are just some of the players who have been Tweeting about their preparations and plans for this year's event.
And, in case you were wondering, Phil Ivey is apparently planning on playing in this year's World Series of Poker.
Good luck to everybody who is playing in this year's WSOP!
