European Poker Tour by PokerStars - LogoThis year's edition of the EPT Barcelona has reached its conclusion following Thomas Middleton's win in the main event.

A massive 1,234 player field turned out for this year's EPT Barcelona main event, which was easily the largest field in the event's history. The popularity of the European Poker Tour continues to grow with each passing year, and the size of this year's EPT Barcelona main event field likely means good things for season 10 of the tour.

As mentioned, Thomas Middleton managed to navigate through the large main event field to take down the EPT Barcelona main event. For his victory, Middleton walked away with €942,000, while runner-up Kimmo Kurko took home €750,000 for his second place finish.

Here is how the rest of the final table ended up finishing out:

3. Kresten Nielsen, €440,500
4. Luca Fiorini, €328,000
5. Pasi Sormunen, €253,000
6. Benoit Gury, €188,000
7. Eduard Bhaggoe, €143,000
8. Andreas Christoforou, €102,430
9. Alejandro Perez Torres, €79,000

The final table of the EPT Barcelona High Roller event featured a number of big names, including the likes of Daniel Negreanu, Jonathan Duhamel and David Benefield.

In the end, however, it was Thomas Muhlocker who was able to navigate through the shark infested field to take down the first place prize of €390,700. Daniel Negreanu finished in second place for €263,800, while Jonathan Duhamel walked away with €118,000 for his fifth place finish.

Daniel Negreanu actually had a large chip lead when heads up play against Muhlocker got underway, but Muhlocker was able to battle his way back to take down the tournament. The final hand of the event saw Negreanu get all-in with his A-Q offsuit, only to be called by Muhlocker's A-K offsuit. The board ran out Kh-Tc-9h-5s-6h, giving Muhlocker the hand and the victory.

With the EPT Barcelona now in the books, the attention of the poker world now turns to the WCOOP, which begins on Pokerstars tomorrow (Sunday).
