2014 PCA Set To Kick Off on Sunday, January 5thPublished on December 31st, 2013 1:19 am EST
Many of the top poker players in the world will soon be making their ways to the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas for the 2014 PCA (Pokerstars Caribbean Adventure).
The Pokerstars Caribbean Adventure has become one of the most popular stops on the live poker tour, thanks, in large part, to the warm locale. Many parts of the world are currently suffering from extremely cold temperatures, which makes the PCA a particularly enticing tournament stop.
This year's PCA will kick off with the Super High Roller event which will get underway on Sunday, January 5th. This tournament, which was won by Scott Seiver last year ($2,003,480), has unlimited re-entries and a buy-in of $100,000. 47 players turned out for last year's event, which created a total prize pool of $5,724,180.
Players with smaller bankrolls will get their opportunities starting on Monday, January 6th, as a total of four events will get underway, including Event #3 ($2,000 + $200 NLHE Turbo) and Event #5 ($360 + $40 NLHE Turbo).
The 2014 PCA Main event, which features a total guaranteed prize pool of $10,000,000, will officially kick off on Tuesday, January 7th. There will be two Day 1 flights, with the second flight getting underway on Wednesday, January 8th. The buy-in for the main event will be $10,000 + $300.
Last year's PCA main event attracted a total field of 987 players, which ended up creating a total prize pool of $9,573,900. The event was won by Dimitar Danchev, who took home $1,859,000 for his efforts.
Given the $10 million guarantee, this year's PCA main event has a great chance of being the fourth largest in history behind the 2009 (1,347 players), 2010 (1,529 players) and 2011 (1,560 players) events.
