Under the terms of the agreement, Pokerstars will serve as the subcontractor for a real money online poker site that will be "licensed, owned and operated by an entity owned by the Tribe and the card clubs."

In their role as subcontractor for this new venture, Pokerstars will provide the "online poker platform and related services".

This deal will be enacted if and when California passes a law allowing intrastate poker throughout the state.

Here is what the Rational Group had to say about the deal:

"PokerStars has a great history with California poker players, who want us in the market.  We are the worldwide leader in regulated online poker and hold more national licenses than any other operator.  We look forward to bringing our best practices in responsible gaming, online security, e-commerce, protection of players' funds and game integrity to the California market."

Up until this point, the Rational Group had been shut out of the newly opened online gaming markets in Nevada, New Jersey and Delaware. The Rational Group's inclusion in a potentially opening Californian online poker market would be a massive coup for the company that has experienced nothing but frustration with the legalized and regulated US online poker market up until this point.
