Phil Ivey, Daniel Negreanu Amongst Participants

The World Series of Poker - Big One for One Drop - LogoEvent #57 of the 2014 World Series of Poker, the $1,000,000 BIG ONE For ONE DROP, officially got underway just a few short minutes ago.

Prior to yesterday, a total of 41 players had confirmed their participation in this year's event. That list included the likes of Daniel Negreanu, Phil Ivey, Vanessa Selbst, Antonio Esfandiari, Phil Galfond and a number of "anonymous businessmen".

Late last night, two more names were added to the list - Connor Drinan and Erick Lindgren. Both players managed to win their seats after they finished in the top two spots in a $25,300 satellite that concluded late last night.

When play officially got underway a few minutes ago, a total of 37 players were seated. Registration, however, will remain open for a number of hours.

There is a hard cap of 56 players for this year's $1,000,000 BIG ONE For ONE DROP. If this cap ends up being hit, the prize pool will be large enough so that the eventual winner of the tournament takes home north of over $20 million, in addition to the World Series of Poker bracelet.

The first $1,000,000 BIG ONE For ONE DROP event, which took place in 2012, was won by Antonio Esfandiari for $18,346,673. This massive payout propelled Esfandiari to the top of the all-time tournament money list, where he still remains to this day.
