Newhouse Still Alive at Day 6 Dinner Break

The King is presenting the news from the 2014 World Series of Poker - WSOP Chips in the backgroundPrior to the World Series of Poker main event getting underway, Mark Newhouse (aka "newhizzle") had this to say via his Twitter account:

"Just bought into the main event day 1c. Not f****** finishing 9th again"

Well, finishing 9th for the second year in a row is possible for Newhouse, as he is still alive in the World Series of Poker main event with just 44 players left.

Not only is Newhouse still alive, but he is sitting on a healthy stack of almost 7 million in chips. This makes him 11th in chips, roughly 3.845 million behind the current chip leader, Martin Jacobson.

If Newhouse is able to survive the rest of Day 6 and Day 7, he will become the first player to ever make back-to-back "November Nine" final tables. Sure, other players have made back-to-back WSOP main event final tables (Johnny Moss, Doyle Brunson, Stu Ungar and Johnny Chan all WON two in a row), but nobody has made back-to-back final tables in the "November Nine" era of the World Series of Poker.

The odds of making back-to-back final tables in this day and age are astronomical given the size of the fields (6,000+ players in both years).

This would obviously be a spectacular feat if Newhouse is able to accomplish this, but 35 players are still standing in his way.
