Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open $10m - LogoThis year's edition of the $5,300 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open main event ended up drawing a total of 1,499 entries.

Tournament organizers were guaranteeing a total prize pool of $10 million for the championship, which means that the players will benefit from an overlay of $2,505,000. This is obviously very disappointing news for tournament organizers who were hoping for bigger and better things following last year's success, in which the main event finished with a total of 2,384 entries, which ended up creating a total prize pool of $11.92 million.

The eventual winner of this year's event will walk away with a payout of $1,446,710, while the runner-up will take home $1,047,638. Here are the final table payouts:

1st - $1,446,710
2nd - $1,047,638
3rd - $748,313
4th - $548,763
5th - $424,044
6th - $324,269
7th - $249,438
8th - $199,550
9th - $149,663

The top 300 spots will pay out a minimum of $7,483.

This year's Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open suffered due to a tremendous amount of competition from other events.

To start, many players are still in Europe following the conclusion of the EPT100 Barcelona event. This tournament was extremely well-attended and many players did not get back to the States in time for the SHRPO main event.

In addition, this weekend featured the following major events:

-Playground Poker Montreal Festival Main Event ($1,000,000 Guaranteed)
-WinStar World River Poker Series Main Event ($2,500,000 Guaranteed)
-ANZPT Main Event

That is simply too much competition for a tournament that is hoping to draw thousands of entries. It will be interesting to see if the SHRPO tournament organizers move their main event to another weekend next year.
