First Event To Kick Off on Sunday Morning

WCOOP Logo - World Championship of Online Poker - Large SizeAt 08:00 ET on Sunday morning, the 2014 edition of the WCOOP (World Championship of Online Poker) will officially get underway on Pokerstars.

For many poker players throughout the world, the WCOOP represents the first chance to grind online following a busy summer of "live" tournament poker. With the World Series of Poker, EPT100 Barcelona and SHRPO now behind us, many players are now looking forward to three straight weeks of grinding on Pokerstars.

The numbers are expected to be massive for this year's WCOOP, as Pokerstars has guaranteed a total of $40 million for the entire tournament series, of which $10 million has been earmarked for the main event.

The first event, as mentioned, will kick off at 08:00 ET on Sunday morning. This event is a $109 NLHE tournament with a total guaranteed prize pool of $700,000. 1,201 players have already entered for the event with thousands more expected to throw their hats into the ring over the coming 48 hours.

Over the course of the next three weeks, a total of 66 WCOOP events will be played. Event #66, which is the $10,000,000 guaranteed main event, features a buy-in of $5,200 and will kick off at 14:30 on Sunday, September 28th.

Pokerstars will be hosting a wide assortment of different tournaments that will cater to practically every taste - everything from NLHE to PLO to Stud to Badugi. Pokerstars has done a good job in making sure that there is something for everybody in the WCOOP series.
