Pokerstars Logo next to Sports Betting icons for football, soccer and basketballWhen Amaya Gaming Group completed their purchase of Pokerstars and Full Tilt Poker this past summer, they made it perfectly clear that they were looking to transform the sites from online poker offerings to full-fledged gaming sites.

Earlier today, via a press release that I have linked below, Pokerstars revealed that sports betting and casino table games would soon be coming to Pokerstars.com. According to the press release, blackjack and roulette will begin rolling out later this month on a market-by-market basis, with a full rollout expected to be completed by the end of the year.

In addition, Pokerstars also revealed that sports betting and "other popular casino games" would be launching in 2015. This would put Pokerstars in direct competition with the likes of William Hill as full-fledged online gaming firms.

Pokerstars stated that a "full-featured casino" would be available in 2015.

Shares of Amaya Gaming Group crept higher on the news, closing the regular session at $37.50 (up 57 cents) on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

With this move, Amaya Gaming Group is continuing with their strategy of appealing to casual players.

What do you think about this move? Good or bad?
