Nikolay Evdakov officially cashed in his ninth 2008 World Series of Poker event on Saturday evening, breaking the previous record of eight WSOP cashes in one year.

Evdakov ended up finishing 158th in the $2k No Limit Hold'em event on Saturday, cashing for a total of $4,216. Evdakov still has five bracelet events left that he can play in to add to his total, including the Main Event which begins on Thursday, July 3rd. The previous record of eight cashes in a single year was shared by four people: Humberto Brenes (2006), Phil Hellmuth Jr. (2006), Chad Brown (2007) and Michael Binger (2007).

In addition to his cash in the $2k NLHE event that he was knocked out of on Saturday, Evdakov has also cashed in the following eight events this year:

-$10k Pot Limit Hold'em World Championship (12th, $49,632)

-$1500 No Limit Hold'em (139th, $4,559)

-$1k No Limit Hold'em w/ Rebuys (48th, $9,839)

-$10k Mixed World Championship (24th, $16,243)

-$5k No Limit 2-7 Draw Lowball w/ Rebuys (13th, $26,025)

-$5k Pot Limit Omaha w/ Rebuys (14th, $61,718)

-$1500 Pot Limit Omaha (30th, $16,849)

2008 marked the first time that Evdakov had ever cashed in a World Series of Poker event.
