The King in a black wife beater doing some bicep curlsDue to popular demand, we are writing an article on how to improve your video poker performance. The four pillars to being a successful video poker player are: patience, knowledge of the odds of each hand, practise, and successful money management.

First off, before anything else, you need a place to put into practise what you learn. You can play without distraction 24/7, which is crucial if you want to become a winning video poker player.

Knowledge of the odds of winning with each hand is absolutely crucial. If you know what the odds are of each hand that you are dealt, you can bet accordingly.

Patience is key as well. Focus on playing smaller hands to start, until you get comfortable with the game and the machine. The worst thing you can do is bet big right away .. that's an amateur mistake. Start small, and when you start winning, increase the size of your bets. If you go on a losing streak, decrease the size of your bets. Professionals cut back on the size of their bets when they are losing; amateurs increase the size of their bets.

Practise, practise, practise. Like anything else, the more time you put into it, the better you become. Make some small bets to start until you are confident, then slowly increase as your experience and confidence grows.
