High Stakes Poker Season 6 Episode 13 Recap

-- King is sitting comfortably on the sofa and watching High Stakes Poker on the TV --The final episode of the sixth season of High Stakes Poker aired earlier tonight on GSN.

The players at the table to start this episode were: Tom "durrrr" Dwan, Doyle Brunson, Lex Veldhuis, David Benyamine, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, Phil "OMGClayAiken" Galfond and Daniel Negreanu.

Before any hands were dealt in the episode, the players at the table agreed to bump the stakes up to $500/$1,000 with a $300 ante.

Hand #1: Veldhuis raises to $4,000 with Ah-9c. Negreanu calls in the SB with Ks-10s, and Dwan calls in the BB with 9h-5h. The flop comes 3c-7s-7h. Negreanu checks, Dwan bets $10,700, Veldhuis folds and Negreanu calls. The turn brings the Kd. Negreanu checks and Dwan checks. The river brings the Qd. Negreanu leads out for a bet of $28,200, Dwan calls (with his nine-high) and Negreanu takes down the $91,900 pot.

Note: during the hand, Eli Elezra sat back down at the table.

Hand #2: Veldhuis is the straddle. Benyamine calls with 7c-6c, Galfond raises to $10,500 with Kd-Jc, Dwan calls in the SB with Qh-10h, Brunson raises to $55,500 in the BB with Ad-Ks, Benyamine folds, Galfond folds and Dwan folds.

Hand #3: Action is folded about to Veldhuis, who raises to $8,200 from the button with 7h-6c. Galfond, who is the straddle in the hand, decides to make the call with Qd-10c. The flop comes As-8s-3s. Galfond checks, Veldhuis bets $13,300, Galfond raises to $39,000 and takes down the pot.

Hand #4: Veldhuis raises to $7,500 with 10s-9c. Benyamine calls with 5c-2c. Elezra calls in the BB with pocket Threes, and Dwan folds the straddle. The flop comes 7s-4c-7d, missing all three players. Elezra checks, Veldhuis bets $14,500, Benyamine folds and Elezra elects to make the call. The turn brings the 9d. Elezra checks and Veldhuis checks. The river brings the Ac. Elezra checks, Veldhuis bets $37,000, Elezra calls and Veldhuis takes down the $130,400 pot.

Hand #5: No straddle in this hand. Benyamine raises to $4,200 with pocket Tens. Galfond raises to $16,000 with Kh-5d. Elezra is dealt pocket Kings and raises to $40,500. Benyamine tosses away his pocket Tens, and Galfond decides to make the call with his Kh-5d. The flop comes 9d-9c-Ks, giving Elezra a full house. Elezra leads out with a bet of $33,000 and Galfond calls. The turn brings the 9s, giving Galfond a full house as well (but not as good as Elezra's obviously). Elezra checks and Galfond checks. The river brings the Qs. Elezra bets $110,000 and Galfond decides to fold after a few moments of thought.

Hand #6: Action is folded around to Doyle Brunson in the BB, who decides to call with Qs-7s. Veldhuis, who is the straddle in the hand, raises to $11,000 with 9s-2s and Doyle makes the call. The flop comes 6s-2d-3h. Both players check. The turn brings the Jc. Doyle leads out with a bet of $20,500 and Veldhuis calls. The river brings the 4c. Doyle bets $60,000 and Veldhuis makes the call with his pair of twos to take down the $185,900 pot.

Hand #7: Action is folded around to David Benyamine, who makes the call in the SB with 10c-6c. Grospellier calls in the BB with Jc-5c, and Galfond checks in the straddle with 3h-2s. The flop comes Ad-3d-Qc. Benyamine and Grospellier both check, and Galfond bets $3,500. Benyamine folds and Grospellier calls. The turn brings the 2h, giving Galfond two pair. Grospellier checks, Galfond bets $9,200, Grospellier raises to $27,500 and Galfond makes the call. The river brings the 2d, giving Galfond a full house. Grospellier checks, Galfond bets $34,200 and Grospellier makes the fold.

Hand #8: Elezra raises to $7,200 with pocket Queens. Dwan (9s-7s), Benyamine (Kc-Jd), Galfond (9d-8s) and Negreanu (Js-10s) all decide to come along. There is already $40k in the pot when the flop comes 3s-7h-9c, giving Dwan top two pair. Galfond and Negreanu both check, Elezra bets $23,300, Dwan raises to $71,000, Benyamine folds, Galfond folds, Negreanu folds, Elezra re-raises to $173,300, Dwan pushes and Elezra elects to fold after a few minutes of thought.

Hand #9: Grospellier raises to $7,000 with Ad-6d. Action folds around to Dwan in the straddle, who is dealt pocket Aces. Dwan elects to re-raise to $20,800, and "ElkY" makes the call. The flop comes 4c-6s-8s. Dwan leads out with a bet of $26,400 and "ElkY" makes the call. The turn brings the Qd and Dwan pushes all-in. Grospellier, after a bit of thought, decides to make the call, creating a pot of over $255k. The river brings the 5c, and Dwan rakes in the $255k pot.

Hand #10: Negreanu raises to $8,000 with Ks-5s. Veldhuis calls from the button with 9h-7h, and Galfond calls in the straddle with 8d-7s. The flop comes Kh-8c-3s. Galfond checks, Negreanu bets $26,000 with his pair of Kings, Veldhuis folds and Galfond makes the call. The turn brings the 8h. Both players check. The river brings the Kc, giving both players full houses. Galfond checks, Negreanu bets $75,000 and Galfond makes the fold.

Hand #11: Galfond raises to $8,000 with 10d-2h. Negreanu makes the call in the BB with Qc-10c, and Elezra makes the call in the straddle with Jh-10h. The flop comes Qd-4c-Jd. Galfond leads out with a bet of $14,000, Negreanu calls with his pair of Queens and Elezra decides to make the fold. The turn brings the 8c. Galfond checks, Negreanu bets $30,000, Galfond raises to $94,000, Negreanu pushes and Galfond quickly folds.

That's it - that was the last episode of the sixth season of High Stakes Poker. Another great season, and given the increased ratings over last year, I'm certain that GSN will bring the show back for a seventh season.
