Phil Hellmuth will be gunning for his 14th World Series of Poker bracelet when the final table of Event #7 ($1,500 Seven-Card RAZZ) gets underway later today.
Hellmuth is going to have his work cut out for him as he tries for his 14th bracelet on Sunday afternoon, as the final table of the $1,500 Seven-Card RAZZ event contains some extremely talented players. Let's take a look at the chip counts heading into the final table:
Greg Pappas, 391,500
Phil Hellmuth, 314,000
David Bach, 290,500
Brandon Cantu, 176,000
Ted Forrest, 171,000
Brock Parker, 138,500
Yeubin Guo, 90,000
Kevin Iacofano, 45,000
It should be noted that Hellmuth has won this event before, as he took down the $2,500 Seven-Card RAZZ event at the 2012 World Series of Poker for $182,793.
Phil Hellmuth's successes at the World Series of Poker have been well-documented, but here are a couple of numbers that need to be mentioned once again as it applies to Hellmuth's history at the series:
13 World Series of Poker bracelets
101 World Series of Poker cashes
50 World Series of Poker final tables
*note: these are all records
Hellmuth had already established himself as arguably the best No Limit Hold'em tournament player in the world, but in the past few years he has also proven that he is very proficient in every other game that is offered at the WSOP. Look no further than the 2012 World Series of Poker for evidence of that, as Hellmuth won the $2,500 RAZZ bracelet and made deep runs in the $10k HORSE, $1,500 Omaha Hi/Lo and $5k Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo events.
Can Phil Hellmuth win his 14th World Series of Poker bracelet and move four ahead of both Doyle Brunson and Johnny Chan? We'll find out later today.
