What does the term "soft bubble" mean in the world of poker? What is the definition of the term "soft bubble"?

In poker, the term "soft bubble" refers to when you are approaching the bubble in a poker tournament but haven't quite got there yet.

The King explains the meaning of the poker term Soft Bubble.  What is it and when does it occur in tournament play?For instance - let's say that you are playing in a 300-entrant tournament and the top 30 spots pay out.

If there are 35 players left, you will be at the "soft bubble".

The actual bubble takes place when there are 31 players left, as the next elimination will mean that the "money bubble" will burst.

In a "soft bubble", players start to change the way that they are playing.

Players with smaller stacks will likely start to play much tighter, as they are likely focused on making the money. This allows for players with biggest stacks to start bullying around the shorter stacks.

As mentioned, during the "soft bubble", the bigger stacks will likely start opening with much wider ranges, as they know that the smaller stacks are likely to be playing super tight in order to make the money.
