Tournament A Big Success After Meeting $10 Million Guarantee

The King and the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open logoThe organizers of the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open took a big leap of faith when they announced that the main event would have a total guaranteed prize pool of $10 million.

There is a bit of a lull in the poker schedule right now. The World Series of Poker has reached its conclusion (aside from the main event final table), while the WSOPE, WCOOP and new season of the European Poker Tour are all scheduled to get underway later in the year.

Many poker players take July and August to recharge their batteries after a grueling World Series of Series schedule. With the 10th season of the European Poker Tour starting up at the end of August, would the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open receive enough entries to meet their $10 million guarantee?

We received our answer earlier today when it was announced that the tournament had received its 2,000th entry. That entry ended up belonging to 1996 World Series of Poker champion Huck Seed.

The tournament has allowed re-buys and re-entries, which have certainly helped the numbers. Players such as Justin Bonomo and Phil Ivey have busted multiple bullets so far.

The tournament has gotten so pretty rave reviews so far, with players seeming to be especially happy with the structure.

The Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open has done a great job this year and has established itself as a bonafide major late summer event.

The eventual winner of the main event will walk away with a minimum of $1.5 million.
