Borgata Poker Logo - OrangeAccording to Pokerscout.com (link below), Party Borgata continues to be the clear market share leader of the New Jersey online gaming market, which officially opened for business in late November.

According to Pokerscout.com, Party Borgata reported a peak of 542 cash game players over the past 24 hours. This compares to WSOP.com (347 players), All American (199 players) and Ultimate (57 players).

Brand recognition has clearly been a big factor in the early success of both Party Borgata and WSOP.com. Many American players remember the glory days of Party Poker (pre-UIGEA), and this has clearly helped to draw players to the site. WSOP.com, on the other hand, benefits from the very strong World Series of Poker brand.

In addition, Party Borgata made the decision to host weekly $50,000 Guaranteed tournaments every Sunday, which has also paid early dividends for the network.

Of course, all of the participants in New Jersey's online gaming market are benefitting from the (temporary?) exclusion of Pokerstars from the market. Pokerstars was recently told that their license application had been suspended for a period of two years due to the "unresolved federal indictment against Isai Scheinberg" and "the involvement of certain Pokerstars executives with Internet gaming operations in the United States following the enactment of UIGEA".

Unless something dramatic takes place, Pokerstars is likely to be shut out of the New Jersey market for some time, much to the delight of Party Borgata and others.
