Mariz Has Four Cashes and One Bracelet This Summer

Pablo Mariz at the World Series of Poker - Year is 2017.There are a number of very recognizable names in the top 20 of the 2017 World Series of Poker Player of the Year race so far, including Daniel Negreanu, David Pham, David Baker, Barry Greenstein and John Monnette.

Roughly 35 events into the 2017 World Series of Poker, nobody has more POY points than Pablo Mariz, who currently sits at the top of the leaderboard with a total of 459.41 points.

Mariz, who hails from Saint-Hubert, Quebec, Canada, has a total of 4 cashes so far this year and over $1.2 million in prize money. The vast majority of Pablo's earnings came in the $1,500 No Limit Hold'em Millionaire Maker, which he took down for $1,221,407. Pablo's victory in the Millionaire Maker came just a few days after he finished runner-up in the $1,000 Tag Team event.

It's early days yet, and Mariz is facing stiff competition from the likes of James Obst, Aditya Agarwal, Igor Sharaskin and Daniel Negreanu.

The World Series of Poker POY race includes events at the WSOP Europe, which takes place later in the year.

The player who is at the top of the leaderboard after the World Series of Poker Las Vegas concludes will receive a buy-in into the WSOPE main event, while the player who is at the top of the leaderboard after the WSOPE concludes will receive a buy-in into the 2018 World Series of Poker main event.
