Pokerstars is expanding into India. Logo next to a flag.Earlier this week, Amaya Inc. - or The Stars Group Inc., as they will now be called - held their annual meeting.

Things have been going pretty well for The Stars Group Inc. this year, as shares of the company are up and former CEO David Baazov has largely been forgotten about.

The Stars Group Inc. revealed a big piece of news during their annual meeting, as they will likely be operational in "most" states in India by the end of 2017.

The Stars Group Inc. revealed that they are currently in negotiations to sign a deal with a "local partner" that would allow them access to the Indian market. They said that India is a "booming" market that could be a significant contributor to the company's bottom line, as The Stars Group Inc. said that they eventually want to grab 50% of the country's online poker market, which they estimate could be worth $150 million/year.

The Stars Group Inc. said that they are excited by the market in India due to the fact that there are 1.2 billion mobile users in the country.

KPMG estimates that the online gaming market will be worth $1 billion by 2021, and Pokerstars is eager to get in on the action.
