The shot of the Las Vegas strip taken from a helicopter at night. The WSOP is fast approaching. Are you ready? On Tuesday, May 28th, the 2019 World Series of Poker will officially kick off at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

There are other big tournaments throughout the year, though for poker players, the World Series of Poker is the granddaddy of them all.

Players from all around the world descend on Las Vegas to take part in the event. Houses are rented well in advance. Bankrolls are sent to Las Vegas. Flights from all around the world are booked.

Everyone hits Las Vegas with a dream of taking down the main event. Casual players dream of playing at a final table with the likes of Daniel Negreanu or Phil Ivey. Professional players dream of winning bracelets and taking down bracelet bets against their peers.

The World Series of Poker is a nearly two-month extravaganza of poker that seems to get bigger and bigger with each passing year. Despite "Black Friday" taking place and taking poker away from many Americans, the tournament series just gets bigger and bigger with each passing year.

In 2019 there will be a total of 89 different World Series of Poker events.

The first is the $500 Casino Employees event, which gets underway on Wednesday, May 29th.

The last is a $5,000 No Limit Hold'em event, which lasts for two days and gets underway on Monday, July 15th.

The main event, which gets underway on Wednesday, July 3rd, will see one lucky (and skilled) player walk away with somewhere around $7-$8 million.

The tournament series has something for everyone, from the Big $50 with its $500 buy-in to the $100,000 No Limit Hold'em High Roller event. The series is structured so that there is something for everybody to play on almost every day of the event. In addition, lower buy-in events are situated close to the weekends so casual grinders from cities such as Los Angeles can drive in to play the smaller buy-in events.

In addition, there are numerous online bracelet events, including the $500 No Limit Hold'em Summer Saver and the $500 No Limit Hold'em Deepstack events.
