The largest buy-in poker tournament is to take place in London, England. Illustration. The Triton Million London event, which will feature the largest ever buy-in in the history of tournament poker, is now up to 23 confirmed entrants.

The tournament, which will cost £1.05 million to buy into, will be taking place at the London Hilton on Park Lane Grand Ballroom from August 1st to August 3rd.

The tournament will see all tournament fees donated to four charities, including Caring for Children Foundation, Raising for Effective Giving, Healthy Hong Kong and Credit One World Charity Foundation.

This tournament has a unique process for determining who will be eligible to play.

A committee extends invitations to notable recreational players and/or businessmen. Each of these players are then allowed to invite one guest player/professional poker player to take part as well, subject to approval by the committee.

When the tournament gets underway, the recreational players/businessmen will be kept separate from the professional players for a total of six levels. After that, a table re-draw will take place, and all of the remaining players in the tournament will be combined into one field.

Here are the recreational players, along with the players that they have invited to play:

Paul Phua - Tom Dwan
Richard Yong - Daniel Cates
Stanley Choi - David Peters
Wai Kin Yong - Rui Cao
Bobby Baldwin - Jason Koon
Cary Katz - Bryn Kenney
Liang Yu - Mikita Badziakouski
Ivan Leow - Timofey Kuznetsov
Rob Yong - Sam Trickett

The £20 million+ prize pool is obviously drawing the interest of many notable high stakes players.
