A US based tournament meets its guarantee and beats expectations. A very nice development. It's always a risk when a site like America's Cardroom hosts a tournament with a massive guarantee.

What happens if they pick the wrong weekend and there ends up being a big overlay? What happens if there is a technical issue that causes problems with the tournament?

A mistake can be catastrophic, as there are millions of dollars on the line.

The good news for America's Cardroom is that the latest edition of their VENOM tournament has easily met its guarantee.

America's Cardroom guaranteed $6 million for the latest version of its VENOM event. This meant that they needed at least 2,400 entries for the $2,650 buy-in event - a lofty goal.

With the final Day 1 flight ending yesterday, the numbers are finally now in.

A total of 2,696 entries for the VENOM tournament created a total prize pool of $6,740,000, easily topping the $6 million guarantee.

There are currently 453 players left in the event, with the top 367 spots paying out a minimum of $3,370.

The eventual winner of the event will walk away a millionaire.
