5,802 Total Entries Creates Prize Pool of Over $27.5 Million

There is a new record for an online tournament guarantee.GGPoker and the World Series of Poker did it.

The World Series of Poker Online main event not only met its guarantee of $25 million, but it ended up easily surpassing it as well.

Before the weekend of action got underway, things were looking pretty dire for GGPoker and the World Series of Poker Online main event, as it appeared as though they might have to pay out a very large overlay.

Players flooded to the last three flights on the weekend, however, and the guarantee ended up getting easily smashed.

In total, the tournament received a total of 5,802 entries, which created a total prize pool of $27,559,500.

This means that the tournament generated more than $1.45 million in rake.

There are currently 1,171 players left in the event with Day 2 starting later today.

The top 728 spots will pay out a minimum of $11,834.04.

The winner of the event will walk away with $3,904,685.63, as well as a WSOP Europe Package ticket, while the runner-up will receive $2,748,605.39.

There are a number of big names still alive in the main event, including Phil Hellmuth and Erik Seidel, just to name a few.

With the $27,559,500, the 2020 World Series of Poker Online main event is now officially the biggest tournament in the history of online poker.
