PSPC Postponed Due to Pandemic

The tournament will be back when the time is right.Despite widespread vaccinations taking place in countries like the United States, United Kingdom and Israel, COVID-19 is still having a dramatic impact on daily life throughout the world.

For every piece of promising news (such as the UFC planning to host an upcoming event in front of a full crowd), there is a piece of discouraging news (new variants of COVID forcing new lockdowns).

For that reason, Pokerstars has made the decision to postpone this year's Pokerstars Players No Limit Hold'em Championship.

Pokerstars hasn't announced when they are planning on hosting the event, though it won't be in 2021. They have also said that they will be back "with a bang when the time is right".

Pokerstars has said that they will continue to award Platinum Passes, even though the date of the next PSPC is not yet known.

Pokerstars also said that they plan on topping the inaugural PSPC when they do return. That will be a lofty goal, as the first PSPC in 2019 ended up with a total prize pool of over $26.4 million.

While this is surely to be disappointing news to poker players across the world, there is also reason to be optimistic, as rumor has it that the World Series of Poker will be making its return this fall in Las Vegas.
