The World Series of Poker will take place after all. It's just that the location is unknown.

Yesterday, Harrah's acquired Binion's Hotel and Casino days after federal marshals raided the establishment, seeking unpaid taxes. Rather than face the prospect of Binion's staying closed and the World Series of Poker not taking place, Binion's and Harrah's worked out a deal which includes the assumption of Binion's debt.

Until you hear something different, assume that the schedule posted on this site a few days ago is still valid, and the event will start in April and end in May as usual. Expect there to be 1000+ entrants this year, and also expect to see the 2004 WSOP on ESPN. If we hear about any updates to the 2004 schedule for the World Series of Poker, you'll be the first to know.
