Elio Fox Looks for Second Major Victory in OctoberPublished on October 24th, 2011 10:51 pm EST
Less than a week ago, Elio Fox outlasted Chris Moorman to become the 2011 World Series of Poker Europe champion.
Fox took home 1.4 million EUR for his victory, which was easily the largest single cash of his career.
Some people would take some time off to cherish the victory, but Fox got right back to work in the EPT San Remo. Now, with three full days of the tournament in the books, Fox is in contention to win another major tournament.
Of the 837 players that signed up to play in this year's EPT San Remo, 64 are still alive heading into Day 4 on Tuesday. The chip lead currently belongs to Christopher McClung, who will take a stack of over 1.2 million chips with him into Tuesday.
Elio Fox managed to finish Day 3 with a top ten chip stack, and he will be working with approximately 650k chips when play resumes on Tuesday.
Some of the other notable names who are still alive after Day 3:
Joseph Cheong, 840k
Johnny Lodden, 793k
Lex Veldhuis, 687k
Mike McDonald, 648k
Vanessa Selbst, 400k
John Duthie, 319k
The 837 player turnout created a prize pool of over 3.7 million EUR. All 64 players who are still alive will receive a minimum of 12k EUR for making it to Day 4, with the eventual winner taking home 800k EUR.
