High Stakes Poker Returning in February of 2010Published on September 17th, 2009 7:40 am EST
Poker News Daily (link below) is reporting today that the popular "High Stakes Poker" show will be returning to your television screens in February of 2010.
According to the article, new episodes of the show will be filmed in November.
You can expect the normal cast of characters to participate in the show. Names such as Barry Greenstein, Daniel Negreanu, Patrik Antonius and Doyle Brunson will almost surely be appearing on season six of the show.
You can also expect that Tom Dwan, who was involved in two of the biggest pots of Season 5, will be aggressively pursued to appear on Season six as well. Dwan's participation last season made the game noticeably more loose and entertaining to watch. You can bet that the producers of "High Stakes Poker" will be doing whatever they can to secure Dwan's appearance on season six.
"High Stakes Poker" stands out amongst a sea of competing poker television shows due to its inclusion of famous players and high stakes cash game action. Every poker player wonders what it would be like to sit in and play in "Bobby's Room" at the Bellagio, and "High Stakes Poker" provides a glimpse into what this might be like.
There was a time when it appeared as though "High Stakes Poker" was dead in the water. GSN decided not to renew the "World Poker Tour" and gave no indication as to whether or not HSP would be coming back. Gabe Kaplan and A.J. Benza (the two hosts of the show) were kept in the dark as to whether or not the show would be returning, and it appeared as though the best poker show on television might be dead.
Thankfully for poker fans, "High Stakes Poker" returned to the air in March of 2009.
Given GSN's quick announcement that HSP would be returning for a sixth season, the show now seems to be on solid ground. Let's hope that it stays that way.
