647 Players Turn Out For Day 1A of 2011 PCA Main Event

Pokerstars Caribbean Adventure 2011 - Logo - Version 2"Team Pokerstars Pro" Pieter de Korver finished Day 1A of the 2011 PCA Main Event as the chip leader yesterday after amassing over 245k in chips.

Here were the top five chip stacks at the end of Day 1A:

Owen Crowe, 213,000
Chad Eveslage, 203,500

Day 1A had a total turnout of 647 players, with an even larger turnout expected for Sunday (Day 1B). In 2010, 668 players turned out for Day 1A of the main event, which ended up with a total field size of 1,529 players (and a prize pool of $14,831,300).

A number of big names took part in Day 1A of the main event yesterday. Phil Ivey was one of those names - he finished Day 1A with approximately 75k in chips.

Some of the other recognizable names who are still alive after Day 1A include:

In total, 272 of the 647 Day 1A entrants managed to make it through to Day 2 on Monday.

Daniel Negreanu, fresh off of his $1 million second place finish in the $100k Super High Roller event, will play on Day 1B.

Day 1B gets underway at 12 pm local time on Sunday afternoon.
