"The Venom" Receives Total of 2,553 Entrants, Prize Pool Exceeds $6.3 Million

Some thought that the site was crazy to offer a $5 million guarantee. Some people thought that the site was going to have to eat a massive overlay.

In the end, America's Cardroom didn't just meet the $5 million guarantee for the "Venom" tournament - they smashed it.

In total, the tournament had a total of 2,553 entrants, which ended up creating a total prize pool of $6,382,500. (the buy-in for the tournament was $2,500 + $100).

There were three starting flights for "The Venom", with the final flight taking place today. Players were eligible to enter multiple times, with their largest stack being carried over to Day 2.

Day 1A of the event had a total of 785 entrants, while Day 1B had a much smaller 439 entrants.

The tournament would have some work to do to reach the $5 million guarantee, though in the end, it wasn't even close.

Day 1C had the largest turnout of the tournament, as 1,329 ponied up the $2,600 to play. This resulted in the tournament easily topping its guarantee.

"The Venom" had some notable names participating as well. Many top online players took part, as well as familiar names such as Norm MacDonald.

Day 2 of the event gets underway Monday, July 22nd, where there will be 12 hours of play.

If the final table hasn't been set on Monday, action will continue for a brief time on Tuesday. Once the final table is set, the tournament will be paused again.

The final table will get underway on Wednesday, July 24th at 5 pm ET, where the tournament will play down to a winner.

The eventual winner of the tournament will walk away with $1,050,559.50, while the runner-up will take home $760,794.

The top 351 spots will pay out, with all of the final table participants taking home a minimum of $45,954.

Heading into Day 2, the chip leader of the tournament is "HolyCannuli", who has a total of 9,641,417 in chips.

There are 374 players left in the tournament, meaning that the money bubble will pop shortly after the start of Day 2.
