world championship of online poker - wcoop - logo - main event - day 2The WCOOP Main Event is now paused, and play will pick up on Monday afternoon. There are currently 60 players left in the event, and they are all battling for the first place prize of $1.775 million dollars.

2,185 players entered the $10 million dollar guaranteed event, making for a total prize pool of just under $11 million dollars.

"august35" from Moscow is the current chipleader. He has a stack of 3.86 million, which is a full 1.5 million more than "Cobra234", who is currently sitting in second place. "August35" is Alexander Kostritsyn - you may remember him from his victory in the 2008 Aussie Millions main event.

There are a number of well-known players left in the tournament, including:

"AJKHoosier1" - currently in fifth place with 2.18 million chips
"charder30" - currently in 23rd place with 900k chips
"Daut44" - currently in 30th place with 793k chips
"ElkY" - currently in 43rd place with 482k chips
"neverwin" - currently in 50th place with 417k chips
"ADZ124" - currently in 52nd place with 404k chips

"ElkY" is continuing his ridiculously hot run at the 2008 WCOOP, and easily has Player of the Year locked up at this point.

All 60 remaining players are guaranteed at least $17,480 for making it this far.

All players who make the final table are guaranteed at least a six figure payout. 9th receives $121k, and so on. The top two finishers will both become millionaires, as first place will receive $1.775 million and second place will receive $1.31 million.

Play will resume at 16:30 ET on Monday, where the remaining 60 players will be narrowed down to one champion.
