With the final major tournament of 2003 now in the books, Poker-King.com has named Chip Jett the Poker King of 2003.

Other players had very strong years as well. Chris Moneymaker made a splash after winning the 2003 World Series of Poker, having qualified over the Internet. Phil Hellmuth and Phil Ivey also had a strong 2003, and Brian Haveson had a blistering second half of 2003. Amir Vahedi and Chip Jett were neck and neck in our rankings heading into the Five Diamond Finals; Jett finished 8th, and Vahedi finished tied for 13th, so we gave it to Jett.

We felt that Chip had the best all around year though, based on these results:

-2nd Place at the Party Poker Million II

-1st Place at the No Limit Hold'em Championship at the California State Poker Championship

-4th Place at the 2003 Legends of Poker No Limit Hold'em Championship

-8th Place at the 2003 Five Diamond No Limit Hold'em Championship at the Bellagio

-1st Place at the No Limit Hold'em Championship at the World Poker Open in January

Surely there will be some strong feelings on this, so please post comments if you agree / disagree with our choice.
