Who is World1969?
 |
Player: World1969
Real Name: John Hennigan
Also Plays Under: Briefly played under the alias "JohnHennigan69" before switching to his current moniker. As far as I know, Hennigan just plays in big games against well-known players online, so I highly doubt that he actively plays on any site other than Full Tilt Poker.
Online Notes: World1969 is a regular in the high-stakes HORSE games on Full Tilt Poker. From July 1st through to December 9th, 2008, World1969 has played 23,563 high-stakes HORSE hands on Full Tilt Poker, and has made just over $140k for himself.
"World1969" is an expert in Stud and Limit Stud Hi/Lo, and will usually sit if there is a game going off on Full Tilt (this is pretty rare).
"World1969" will occasionally dabble in the high-stakes NLHE and PLO games on Full Tilt Poker, but definitely has a preference for limit games.
His weakest game so far this year has been Omaha Hi/Lo, where he has dropped $622k over just 5,214 hands.
Live Notes: John Hennigan has been a regular in the "Big Game" for many years, and by all accounts has done extremely well for himself in that game. Hennigan is also a regular in the high-stakes seven-card stud game that is hosted by Larry Flynt. This game has a minimum buy-in of $200,000 and features some of the biggest poker names in the world, including Phil Ivey, Barry Greenstein and Ted Forrest.
Hennigan has over $3.1 million dollars in lifetime tournament cashes - this includes a WPT title and 2 World Series of Poker bracelets.
John Hennigan took down the 2007 Borgata Winter Open main event for $1.6 million dollars for his first and only WPT title. He won his first WSOP bracelet in 2002, when he took down the $2k HORSE event for $117k. His second bracelet came in 2004, when Hennigan won the $5k Limit Hold'em event for $325k.
Hennigan most recently took down the $5k Ante Up For Africa Charity event at the 2008 World Series of Poker for $137k.
Other Notes and Info: John Hennigan is known to friends and peers as "Johnny World" - hence the "World1969" nickname.
Hennigan is extremely well-respected by his peers, and many consider him to be one of the best all-around poker players in the world. Hennigan is also an accomplished pool player.
