Definition of Waiting List
What does the term "waiting list" mean in poker? What is the definition of the term "waiting list"?
A "waiting list" is a list of people that are waiting to sit in a cash game, whether it be an online cash game or a cash game at a "live casino".
Let's say that it's Friday night and you decide to swing by your local casino to play some $1/$2 No Limit Hold'em. The games are usually very soft, so you decide to make the drive in hopes of padding your bankroll before the weekend.
You walk into the casino and it is very busy. There are four tables of $1/$2 No Limit Hold'em running, but they are all full.
You decide to put your name on the "waiting list". Anytime somebody decides to leave one of the existing games (or, if a new table is opened up), the person at the top of the waiting list will be called. As new spots open up, the casino will continue to work their way down the waiting list.
As mentioned, there are waiting lists in online cash games as well.
